Анотація

The quarantine restrictions brought on by the pandemic have changed all of modern life, including the lives of Orthodox Christians, who have had to adjust to the inability to participate in Church services. Modern technology allows priests to easily preach or broadcast the Divine Service via live stream without breaking quarantine requirements. Although the online version of the Divine Service cannot totally replace the living Communion with God under any circumstances, watching the performance of the Divine Service on social media praying is doubtlessly a pious pastime. This essay reflects on the comprehensiveness of the catechetical mission during the quarantine period. Even if spiritual aspects of the Divine Service remain inaccessible to isolated parishioners, digitalization in itself can still—and is intended to—become a catalyst for enlightenment in an explanatory and exegetical sense.
