Plagiarism Policy
Essays on Religious Studies is dedicated to publishing original material. However, in certain cases, we may republish previously released works (e.g., in the “Archive” section) or translations of previously published articles. In such instances, the original publication is always cited. Submitting any material to the journal implies that it has not been previously published and is not under review elsewhere.
Responsibility for Academic Integrity
Authors are responsible for adhering to the principles of academic integrity and ethics in their research and publications. This includes proper citation of sources, avoiding plagiarism and self-plagiarism, and obtaining necessary permissions for the use of materials from other sources.
Authors must refrain from reusing their previously published work without citing the original source (self-plagiarism), which is an important aspect of maintaining academic integrity.
The editorial board trusts its authors and does not conduct special plagiarism checks on manuscripts, nor does it require this from editors. However, we encourage reviewers to report any concerns about the improper use of others’ materials without appropriate citation. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism will not be accepted for publication.
Actions in Case of Plagiarism After Publication
If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the editorial board conducts a thorough investigation. If plagiarism is confirmed, the institutions and organizations supporting the research are informed of the violation. The article is marked as containing plagiarism on each page of the PDF document and may be formally retracted if necessary.
