Publication Ethics
The journal Essays on Religious Studies adheres to high standards of publication ethics based on international principles of academic publishing ethics developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The primary goal of these ethical standards is to ensure the high quality of scholarly research, the objectivity of the review process, respect for intellectual property, and the maintenance of academic integrity.
Decisions on Publication
The journal editorial board is responsible for making decisions regarding the publication of submitted manuscripts. Decisions are made solely based on the scholarly significance of the work, its originality, and compliance with ethical standards. The editorial board may consult with other editors or reviewers, but the final decision rests with issue editor. All decisions on publication are made without influence from external factors such as nationality, ethnicity, citizenship, gender, or political views of the author(s).
Confidentiality
The editorial board and others involved in publication process are prohibited from disclosing information about a submitted manuscript to unauthorized persons, except for the authors, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisors, and the publisher, if necessary.
Conflict of Interests
Editors, reviewers, and authors must avoid conflict of interests. Unpublished materials submitted in manuscripts must not be used in the editors' own research without the authors' written consent. Reviewers are required to refrain from considering manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interests due to competition, collaboration, or other relationships with any author, company, or institution associated with the work.
Reviewer Responsibilities
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review assists editorial decisions and may help authors improve their publications through constructive feedback.
Timeliness
Reviewers who cannot provide feedback in a timely manner or feel unqualified to assess the research should notify the editorial board and decline to review the manuscript.
Objectivity and Impartiality
Reviews must be objective and constructive. Personal criticism of the authors is unacceptable. Reviewers must express their views clearly and support them with arguments. If a reviewer identifies significant similarities between the submitted manuscript and other works, they must inform the editorial board.
Author Responsibilities
Reporting Standards
Authors must accurately describe the results of their research and objectively discuss their significance. Publications should contain sufficient detail and references to allow others to replicate their research. Authors are responsible for the accuracy of the data presented and must not knowingly make false or misleading statements.
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that their work is original. The use of other researchers' work must be properly cited or referenced.
Multiple Publications
Submitting the same research to multiple journals simultaneously is prohibited and is considered a violation of publication ethics.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Authors must appropriately acknowledge the contributions of other researchers to their work and cite publications that have influenced their research. All authors who have made significant contributions to the study must be listed as co-authors, and they must agree to the final version of the manuscript and its publication.
Error Disclosure
If an author discovers significant errors or inaccuracies in their publication, they must promptly inform the editorial board and cooperate to correct or retract the work.
