Religious Text and Metaphorical Thinking: New Opportunities Afforded by the Cognitive Approach

Анотація

Анотація. У статті проаналізовано можливості застосування когнітивної теорії метафори до вивчення релігійних текстів і показано актуальність цього підходу для сучасного релігієзнавства. Стаття окреслює перспективи використання ідей Лакоффа і Джонсона для аналізу релігійного дискурсу та водночас демонструє необхідність їхньої корекції, оскільки в релігійних традиціях межа між буквальним і метафоричним є рухомою й сама стає предметом дослідження. Показано, що сучасні корпусні проєкти (зокрема CRC 1475 «Metaphors of Religion») відкривають нові можливості для міжкультурного й історичного аналізу релігійних метафор і дають змогу виявляти загальні моделі релігійного сенсотворення. Водночас стаття акцентує на методологічних труднощах такого підходу – від утрати культурної специфіки при перекладі до проблеми розмежування буквального й метафоричного, що потребує поєднання корпусних методів із герменевтичним та контекстуальним аналізом. Проаналізовано аналітичний потенціал і обмеження підходів Герарда Стіна, Золтана Кевечеша та Войцеха Вжосека, зокрема розрізнення навмисних, «живих» і догматизованих метафор. На окремих прикладах продемонстровано результати застосування теорії концептуального змішування до релігійних наративів. Критично оцінено «презумпцію метафоричності» у світських інтерпретаціях релігійних текстів та окреслено необхідність поєднання когнітивної теорії метафори з концепцією мовних ігор і герменевтичними підходами.
