Abstract. In her interview with Karen Nikiforov and Ulіana Sevastіaniv, Maryna Kulinichenko showcases the work of the non-governmental organization “Workshop for the Academic Study of Religion” (WASR) during the tumultuous, highly transformative period caused by COVID-19 and Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine. The interlocutors talk about the organization’s key achievements, including its transition to an online format, increased visibility and social network activity, and the implementation of the “Religion on Fire” project. The interview provides an in-depth look into the changes in WASR’s mission in the face of adversity, the transformation of the Ukrainian religious studies community, and the challenges facing young specialists in the academic study of religion. The interview provides an overview of the current state and future of academic religious studies in Ukraine in the context of crisis and migration.
